The main event is the Texan Hall of Fame dinner on Friday, Nov. 8.

The alumni group has selected 12 distinguished alumni, including the first editor and first female editor of The Daily Texan, and notable alumni such as Walter Cronkite, Bill Moyers, Karen Elliott House and many others. The master of ceremonies will be Quin Mathews, a Texan alumnus who is a former Dallas TV news anchor who now makes documentary films.

Hall of Fame inductees were chosen based on the accomplishments of their post-Texan career and their commitment to the Texan, either while working at the newspaper or as an alumni.

Legacy winners include Walter Cronkite, Willie Morris, Liz Carpenter, Lady Bird Johnson, Fritz Lanham and Helene Wilke McNaughton.

2013 inductees include Karen Tumulty, Ben Sargent, Karen Elliott House, Bill Moyers and Dick Elam.

Rising star inductee is Bryan Mealer.

The dinner begins with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m.

There will be two tables of silent auction items as well as offer for sale the out-of-print “The Daily Texan: The First 100 Years,” by Tara Copp and Rob Rogers.

The dinner begins at 7 p.m.

In addition to recognizing the 12 Texan Hall of Fame inductees, current Daily Texan staff members will discuss their recent accomplishments.

The silent auction will stay open through the dinner.
