The Texas Association of Journalism Educators has officially recognized Griff Singer as the group’s most recent recipient of its Friend of Journalism Award.
Singer was honored at the group’s annual meeting Oct. 13 in San Antonio.
Bradley Wilson, one-time President of the Texas Student Publications board of directors, nominated Singer for the award. He also introduced Singer at the group’s gathering.
Wilson received a BS and BJ from UT, doctorate in public administration from Syracuse and has been a very active participant in workshops and editor of scholastic journalism publications in Texas and nationally for many years.
Over the past 60-plus years, Singer has been a printer, a reporter, editor, teacher and newspaper consultant. And even though he technically retired in 2003 after 34 years of working, he’s stayed quite busy in journalism.
Today, Singer remains very involved in many areas supporting student journalists, including as an active member of the board of directors of Friends of The Daily Texan, Inc.
