Mark it on your calendar now: April 17, 2026.

That’s the date of the 2026 Daily Texan Hall of Fame event, sponsored by Friends of The Daily Texan, Inc.

More information to come, but you can expect to meet and hear from recipients of the 2026 Daily Texan Hall of Fame Award.

In addition, new Rising Star Award winners will be presented. These awards are given to individuals who are early in their careers but have already made a significant mark in their profession.

Attendees will also hear from senior editors of The Daily Texan, reporting on The Texan’s journalistic successes and challenges.

Also, an update will be given on the Friends’ successful campaign to raise $500,000 to fully endow all annual scholarship grants provided to Texan staffers.  In 2026 a new scholarship will be added, bringing the total that are fully funded and awarded to 14.

Registration will open in January.

The gathering will begin at 5 p.m. with an outdoor reception on the Walter Cronkite Plaza, located between the Texas Student Media building and the Moody College of Communication complex. There will be a variety of food and beverage stations.

The reception ends at 6:45 p.m., and then moves to a comfortable Moody auditorium for Hall of Fame inductions.

The event will begin at 7:15 p.m. and end at 9:30 p.m.
