Three experienced senior editors have been selected to lead The Daily Texan staff over the next 12 months.
They are:
Tiffany Lam, Editor-in-Chief until May 2026
Tiffany Lam is a rising junior from Mansfield, Texas, with a passion for storytelling, design and technology. She was drawn at an early age to both creative writing and problem-solving, interests that eventually led her to pursue computer science alongside Journalism and Media and Digital Game Industries minors.
This summer, Tiffany will spend her sixth semester at the Texan after serving as a copy desk staffer, opinion columnist, senior columnist and associate opinion editor.
Outside the classroom, she volunteers with Texas Spirits and participates in organizations centered around technology and community. Whether she is savoring a good matcha, thrifting for clothes or painting another landscape, she enjoys experiences that unite people through creativity and communication.
Justin Doud, Summer Managing Editor, 2026
Justin Doud is an incoming senior at the University of Texas at Austin pursuing dual degrees in journalism and government.
He serves as The Daily Texan’s Managing Editor for Summer 2026.
He has been with the paper since his first semester freshman year.
Outside of the Texan, he’s a freelance journalist covering politics and the environment, and has interned with Houston Public Media, the Texas Standard and the Austin-American Statesman through Report For America.
Originally from Houston, Justin is a devout Astros fan, and loves exploring state and federal public lands in his spare time.
Brian Murray, Fall Managing Editor, 2026
Brian Murray is a pre-law senior at UT-Austin pursuing a degree in journalism with a minor in philosophy.
Brian has been with the Texan for 5 semesters, with time spent in copy, Life&Arts and Projects.
In the copy department, he was the Copy Desk Chief and was also the associate managing editor in Spring ’26.
Brian hopes to work with other editors to continue the streak of greater professional development for the newsroom, and create a space where staff can grow their skills, network and clips to prepare them for careers and opportunities outside of UT.
